Quarantine Diaries: Day 32

It’s been a month since the country imposed Enhanced Community Quarantine–a month of just staying and being confined at home so as not to be infected with COVID-19. How are you, guys, coping? The supposed to be 4-week quarantine became 6 weeks. Are we prepared for another month of extension? I hope not, but I think it’s necessary.

If my memory serves me right, I think I’ve only been to our garage about three times only and I’ve never stepped my foot out of our gate eversince. Just being at our terrace gives me an uneasy feeling.

7 Current Skin Care Essentials

 

Love yourself, they say. Taking care of oneself is one of the many things to show self-love. How do we do that? Aside from eating healthy, proper diet and regular exercise, let’s talk about skin care for now. While many indulge on makeups and the likes (which I’m not against btw) and I know that kilay is life, I want to focus more on skin care since I’m on my 30s already. If I had to go back in time, one thing I’d like to add is my skin care routine and do it religiously.

Teens are much luckier now because getting information about certain things is as easy as one click because of technology. There are now YouTube and Google apps where they can find legit reviews and tutorials about things like this. During our time, we only rely on TV commercials and word of mouth. We don’t have 7-step Korean Skin Care back then. 😂 Ponds and Clean and Clear lang ang uso no’n…and oil control film pala. Hahaha! Now there’s serum, essence, toner… name it! 😅 Also, we don’t have Beauty MNL or Shopee to order stuff and wait for them to be delivered on our doorstep the next day.

How do you deal with anxiety?

I am a worry-wart. I tend to overthink and worry a lot lately and I know it isn’t healthy. As we age, we begin to overthink things that we didn’t even realize we’d worry about when we were just teenagers. Things like, will I still be able to see my kids grow up to be fine young men? Will I still be present when their graduation time comes? Who would take care of them when I’m gone? I have my own set of fears and worries. I could go on and on. 

I know… I am –that— girl and I couldn’t help it. I don’t know what this is. Mid-life crisis maybe?

It is choosing to be with someone day after day, even on the bad days. So on the days when you can’t stand to be with me, choose to be with me still. 😅

I choose you on the days when you’re loving, funny, and kind. And I still choose you on the days when you’re annoying and moody. I will always choose you day after day, even on the bad days.

Life’s twists and turns are nothing as long as I have you and our beautiful family.

On Joey de Leon’s Remarks About Depression

Shaming isn’t the right way to call out a person’s remarks, is it? I believe there’s always a better way to get your point across other than throwing shade or hate at someone. What’s worse than bashing someone online just because you thought what he did or said was wrong?

The clichè we are all entitled to our own beliefs and opinions can be abused and misused at times. Social media can even make it worse when we put our negative comments and rants online.

It’s a stormy Tuesday here in the Philippines brought by typhoon Maring so classes and work were suspended today.

Cold weather means let’s-lounge-all-day kinda feeling so might as well post the things I’m loving now (a new series on the blog).

6 Things I Wish I’d Tell My Teenage Self

I just turned a year older and thought of looking back at life when I was half my age now. I can’t deny that I had a great childhood and puberty. If I had to go back and talk to my teenage self, here are 6 things I’d probably tell younger Anns:

 nang ako'y sayo mangulila

 bigat sa dibdib ng aking pagtangis
 sakit na dumadaloy sa buong katawan
 dulot nito'y lungkot na walang hanggan

 sakit na tagos sa puso at kaluluwa
 'pagkat sa pangungulila na walang patid
 saya rin ang sa aki'y hatid
 
 Sandaling panahon man kita nakasama
 ligaya ang sa aki'y ipinadama
 munting anghel sa langit
 ang nakikita ko sa pagpikit

 Mahal kita, anak ko
 balang araw magkikita tayo
 yayakapin ka ng mahigpit
